Call of Helicopters - Complete Guide



F.N.G.

HELICOPTERS #1 & #2 sit in a field at the south-east corner of the training base. They are UH-60 Black Hawks.

HELICOPTER #3 circles the southern end of the base, briefly coming to roost near the first two HELICOPTERS before taking off and repeating its journey. It is a UH-60 Black Hawk.


Crew Expendable

HELICOPTER #4 carries the player to the freighter. It can first be seen from the outside while the S.A.S. are murdering the bridge crew. It is a UH-60 Black Hawk.

HELICOPTER #5 collects the player character from the rear port side of the sinking freighter. It is a CH-46 Sea Knight.


The Coup

HELICOPTER #6 drops at least five soldiers into the city while President Al-Fulani is being forced into a waiting Car. It is a Mil Mi-8 “Hip.”

HELICOPTER #7 flies across the sky (from left to right) while Viktor Zakhaev is looking at the camera. It is a Mil Mi-8 “Hip.”

HELICOPTER #8 drops at least four soldiers into the city shortly before Khaled Al-Asad explains that collusion breeds slavery, and that he and his countrymen shall not be enslaved. It is a Mil Mi-8 “Hip.”

HELICOPTER #9 flies across the sky (from right to left) after the Car drives into an alleyway with several large rubbish skips in it. It is a Mil Mi-28 “Havoc.”

HELICOPTER #10 flies across the sky (from right to left) as a civilian climbs a fence to escape an angry dog. It is a Mil Mi-28 “Havoc.”

HELICOPTERS #11, #12 & #13 fly along the coastline after the Car leaves the alleyway. They eventually land behind a military checkpoint. They are all Mil Mi-8 “Hips.”

Blackout

HELICOPTERS #14 & #15 fly overhead shortly after the S.A.S. and the Russian Loyalists begin fighting the Ultranationalists in the village. The HELICOPTERS then drop some troops near the power station. They are both Mil Mi-8 “Hips.”

HELICOPTER #16 arrives after the S.A.S. rescue Nikolai from the Ultranationalists, and picks him up along with the player, Captain Price and Gaz. This HELICOPTER is later shot down at the beginning of 'Hunted.' It is a UH-60 Black Hawk.


Charlie Don't Surf

HELICOPTERS #17, #18, #19, #20, #21, #22, #23, #24, #25, #26, #27, #28 & #29 carry the 1st Force Recon Marines to the coastal Arabian town, where they believe Khaled Al-Asad is broadcasting from a local TV station. The player is aboard one of these HELICOPTERS, but cannot see it from without until they rope down into the street. All 13 are UH-60 Black Hawks.

HELICOPTERS #30, #31, #32 & #33 fly in from the south-east as the player ropes down from a HELICOPTER. They spend the remainder of the mission circling the map, occasionally providing covering fire. They are UH-60 Black Hawks.


The Bog

HELICOPTERS #34 & #35 fly over the player at the beginning of the mission before heading south. They are AH-1W SuperCobras.

HELICOPTERS #36 & #37 fly across the skyline (from right to left) as the Marines are ambushed by OpFor. They are AH-1W SuperCobras.

HELICOPTERS #38, #39, #40, #41, #42, #43, #44, #45, #46, #47, #48, #49, #50, #51, #52, #53 & #54 fly over the player during the ambush, appearing as the player heads for the stairs that lead down from the street. These HELICOPTERS are a mixture of CH-46 Sea Knights and AH-1W SuperCobras, one of which crashes to the ground and explodes.

HELICOPTERS #55, #56, #57 & #58 fly across the skyline (from right to left) while the player is shooting OpFor with their own machine gun. They are AH-1W SuperCobras.

HELICOPTERS #59 & #60 fly across the skyline (from right to left) as a Marine complains that there is a ton of OpFor in and around the car park for a local merchant. These HELICOPTERS circle this combat zone until the Marines cut the fence and continue their journey. They are AH-1W SuperCobras.

HELICOPTERS #61 & #62 fly in from the north-east and assist the Marines in eliminating a large number of OpFor that have entrenched themselves in a three-storey building. They are AH-1W SuperCobras.


Hunted

HELICOPTER #63 flies over a bridge as the S.A.S. run to hide beneath it. It then inspects the wreckage of HELICOPTER #16. It is a Mil Mi-8 “Hip.”

HELICOPTER #64 flies over a field as the S.A.S. attempt to cross it, forcing them to hide. Once they are discovered, the HELICOPTER drops off several troops, and continues to harass the S.A.S. for much of the remainder of the mission, until the player shoots it down with two Stinger missiles. It is a Mil Mi-8 “Hip.” (note: this may be intended to be HELICOPTER #63 returning, but it is in fact a different HELICOPTER).


Death from Above

HELICOPTERS #65 & #66 extract the S.A.S. from the junkyard after their fight against the Ultranationalists. They are both CH-46 Sea Knights.


War Pig

HELICOPTERS #67 & #68 fly in from the west once War Pig is mobilised. They attempt to drop several OpFor troops into the north-western corner of the bog. They are Mil Mi-8 “Hips.”

HELICOPTER #69 arrives at the end of the mission to pick up the Marines and carry them to where command believes Khaled Al-Asad is hiding. The player is inside this same HELICOPTER during the next mission, from which they fire a Mk-19 grenade launcher. Twice, the HELICOPTER drops the player off to fight in the streets before picking them up again. It is then destroyed in a nuclear explosion. It is a CH-46 Sea Knight.


Shock and Awe

HELICOPTERS #70, #71, #72, #73, #74, #75 & #76 fly alongside the player during the assault on Al-Asad's position. They include five AH-1W SuperCobras, which break formation and strafe the OpFor troops and vehicles in the city streets, and two CH-46 Sea Knights, which can be seen dropping off squads of Marines to fight on foot.

HELICOPTERS #77, #78 & #79 attack the city from a position perpendicular to the first eight HELICOPTERS, then join them in strafing the streets.

(note: one of these first eight AH-1W SuperCobras, “Deadly,” leaves the battle to re-arm and re-fuel, later returning to provide covering fire. “Deadly” is then shot down.)

HELICOPTERS #80 & #81 drop several OpFor troops into the combat zone while the Marines are rescuing a team who have become pinned down in a two-storey building. They are Mil Mi-8 “Hips.”

HELICOPTERS #82, #83, #84, #85, #86, #87 #88 appear behind the player's HELICOPTER while they are leaving the city. They are all destroyed in a nuclear explosion. They are two CH-46 Sea Knights and five AH-1W SuperCobras

(note: due to the make-up of this group, these may be intended to be the same HELICOPTERS from the beginning of the mission, but there is no definitive evidence for this.)



Safehouse


HELICOPTER #89 lies wrecked and abandoned on a small hill to the west of the church. The player later uses this HELICOPTER's minigun to destroy five HELICOPTERS near the beginning of
'Heat.' It is a UH-60 Black Hawk.

HELICOPTER #90 is flown by a Russian Loyalist, and can be called in by the player to provide supporting fire. It is a Mil Mi-28 "Havoc."


All Ghillied Up

HELICOPTER #91 flies over the player and Cpt. MacMillan after they exit the church building. It is a Mil Mi-24 "Hind."

HELICOPTERS #92, #93, #94 & #95 are parked around the area where the Ultranationalists are disposing of bodies. They are all Mil Mi-24 "Hinds."

HELICOPTER #96 hovers near the large group of Ultranationalist troops and vehicles encountered after the player and MacMillan exit a shipping container. It is a Mil Mi-24 "Hind."

HELICOPTER #97 flies past the front windows of a building the player and MacMillan are proceeding through, shortly after MacMillan describes Pripyat as a "ghost town." It is a Mil Mi-24 "Hind."


One Shot, One Kill

HELICOPTER #98 abruptly obscures the player's line of sight while they are aiming at Imran Zakhaev. The player shoots it down soon after. It is an Mil Mi-28 "Havoc."

HELICOPTERS #99 & #100 fly in from the left shortly after the player shoots down HELICOPTER #98. They are Mil Mi-28 "Havocs."

HELICOPTERS #101 & #102 drop a large amount of Ultranationalist soldiers in the south-eastern corner of the large open area that the player and MacMillan must fight through after they escape the exploding hotel. These two helicopters will show up over and over, dropping off more and more soldiers until the player passes this section. If there are already enough soldiers on this battlefield, they will still fly in and lower their ropes, but no soldiers will descend them. They are Mil Mi-8 "Hips."

HELICOPTER #103 drops Ultranationalist soldiers into the south-western corner of the aforementioned battlefield. It is a Mil Mi-8 "Hip."

HELICOPTER #104 can often be glimpsed in the distance several times during the battle after escaping the hotel, though it vanishes and reappears unpredictably. If the player takes too long to leave the area, it will fly into the middle of it and open fire. It is a Mil Mi-28 "Havoc."

HELICOPTER #105 can be seen in the distance when the player looks out of a south-eastern window in the first apartment they run through. It is a Mil Mi-28 "Havoc."

HELICOPTER #106 attacks the player shortly after they exit the apartment, before being shot down by MacMillan and breaking his leg. It is a Mil Mi-28 "Havoc."

HELICOPTER #107 flies over the second apartment the player and MacMillan are about to enter and drops several Ultranationalist troops into a courtyard. It is a Mil Mi-8 "Hip."

HELICOPTER #108 drops Ultranationalist troops behind a wall at the southern end of the courtyard. It is a Mil Mi-8 "Hip."

HELICOPTER #109 drops troops into the wooded area to the player's right as they are entering the apartment. It is a Mil Mi-8 "Hip."

HELICOPTER #110 can be seen very briefly when the player reaches the second storey of the apartment. It hovers in front of the ferris wheel, then flies off. It is a Mil Mi-28 "Havoc."

HELICOPTERS #111, #112, #113 & #114 drop a large number of Ultranationalist troops into the area around the ferris wheel. They are Mil Mi-8 "Hips."

HELICOPTER #115 eventually arrives to extract the player and MacMillan from the battlefield. It is a CH-46 Sea Knight.


Heat

HELICOPTERS #116, #117, #118, #119 & #120 fly in from the south-east while the player is using HELICOPTER #89's minigun. If they are not shot down, they will drop many Ultranationalist troops into the area. They will in all likelihood be shot down. They are Mil Mi-8 "Hips."

HELICOPTERS #121, #122 & #123 drop several Ultranationalists in and around the field where the S.A.S. are trying to reach the barn. They are Mil Mi-8 "Hips."

HELICOPTER #124 extracts the S.A.S. from the combat zone. It is a CH-46 Sea Knight.


The Sins of the Father

HELICOPTER #125 provides air support for most of this mission. During the initial attempt to capture Victor Zakhaev, the HELICOPTER also fires missiles at a tank, despite not having any missile launchers. It is a UH-60 Black Hawk.


Ultimatum

HELICOPTERS #126 & #127 fly in from the south as the player and the joint operatives reach the field with the power pylon. They are Mil Mi-8 "Hips."

HELICOPTERS #128 & #129 fly overhead after the team cut through the electric fence. They then drop Ultranationalist soldiers into the courtyard of the building ahead. They are Mil Mi-8 "Hips." (note: these may be HELICOPTERS #126 & #127, but this is unclear)

HELICOPTER #130 flies over the south-west building during the fight in the courtyard, before dropping off several Ultranationalist soldiers. It is a Mil Mi-8 "Hip."

HELICOPTER #131 arrives from the south as the player enters the south-west building. It drops Ultranationalists just outside the exit of this building. It is a Mil Mi-8 "Hip."


All In

HELICOPTER #132 is firing upon the player from the north-west as soon as the mission begins. It then flies over the launch facility and continues to fire upon the joint operatives before being struck by a rocket-propelled grenade and crashing to the ground. It is a Mil Mi-24 "Hind."

HELICOPTERS #133 & #134 fly across the screen, left to right, shortly before HELICOPTER #132 is shot down. They are Mil Mi-24 "Hinds."

HELICOPTER #135 lies burning on the ground in the western corner of the silo area. It is a Mil Mi-24 "Hind." (note: it is probably intended to be HELICOPTER #132, but this wreckage can be seen before that HELICOPTER is shot down)

HELICOPTER #136 flies in from the north-east to drop off U.S. Marines. It is a UH-60 Black Hawk.

HELICOPTERS #137 & #138
fly in from the south while the S.A.S. and Marines are rappelling into the missile silo. They are Mil Mi-24 "Hinds."


No Fighting In The War Room

HELICOPTER #139 can be seen on the large computer monitor after the missiles are disarmed, before being boarded by Imran Zakhaev. It is a Mil Mi-8 "Hip."

HELICOPTERS #140 & #141 appear on the monitor as HELICOPTER #139 flies away. They are Mil Mi-24 "Hinds."


Game Over

HELICOPTER #142 shows up near the beginning of the mission, and flies alongside the player's jeep for several minutes, attacking relentlessly before destroying a bridge and causing the jeep to crash. It is a Mil Mi-24 "Hind."

HELICOPTER #143 flies in from the north-east and drops several Ultranationalist troops off to fight the cornered S.A.S. and Marines. It is a Mil Mi-8 "Hip."

HELICOPTER #144 flies over the northern mountains and fires several missiles at the destroyed bridge. It hovers behind Zakhaev while he and his soldiers execute the wounded, and its sudden destruction distracts Zakhaev and his men for long enough to allow the player to kill them.  It is a Mil Mi-24 "Hind."

HELICOPTER #145 flies in from the right-hand side of the screen, having just shot down HELICOPTER #144. It is a Mil Mi-28 "Havoc."

HELICOPTER #146 flies in from the right-han side of the screen after Zakhaev has died. It is a Mil Mi-8 "Hip."

HELICOPTER #147 is the last thing the player sees. It is a Mil Mi-8 "Hip."

  2. After this blog post, it kind of makes me sad to see that there are levels without helicopters in them. I hope they improve the helicopter count of the new Call of Duty game this winter after seeing this website!
